Functional benefits

Why turkey
earns its place.

Turkey is one of the most underrated proteins in dog nutrition. Lean like chicken, but with more zinc, more tryptophan, and a milder allergen profile. We hand-form thin patties so they break apart easily — built for training, not for show.

01 — Calming protein

Naturally rich in tryptophan.

Turkey contains higher levels of tryptophan than most meats — the amino acid that helps produce serotonin and supports calm, balanced behaviour. A useful daily protein for anxious or reactive dogs, and one of the reasons turkey shows up in vet-recommended calming diets.

02 — Zinc-dense

Coat, skin, immune support.

Turkey is one of the highest natural sources of zinc in any meat — the trace mineral behind a glossy coat, fast wound healing, and a robust immune system. Dogs with dull coats or recurring skin flare-ups often have low zinc; turkey is one of the simplest ways to top it back up.

03 — Training-grade

Soft, breakable, high-value.

The hand-formed patties are softer than dehydrated strips — they tear cleanly into tiny pieces with one hand, so you can mark a behaviour fast without fumbling. Dogs go for the smell every time. High enough value to use in distracting environments, lean enough to keep using all session.

04 — Lower allergy profile

Gentler than chicken or beef.

Turkey causes far fewer allergic reactions than chicken or beef simply because it appears in fewer commercial diets — most dogs haven't built sensitivity to it. A solid daily option for poultry-tolerant dogs whose systems flag at chicken.

The nutritional breakdown.

One ingredient on the label means one ingredient in the bag — but that single ingredient is doing a lot of work. Here's what's actually in turkey mince, and what each nutrient does for your dog.

Pick the right protein

Turkey Patties.
are perfect for...

Anxious or reactive dogs

Higher tryptophan than other meats — supports natural serotonin production and a calmer baseline. Useful daily for dogs prone to anxiety, fireworks, or noise sensitivity.

High-value training

The soft hand-formed patties tear into tiny pieces with one hand. High value, fast delivery — exactly what you need for marking behaviour in distracting environments.

Dull coats & skin issues

Zinc-dense — one of the simplest ways to support coat shine, skin barrier function and faster healing. A daily option for dogs with recurring skin flare-ups.

Reacts to poultry?

Turkey shares some allergens with chicken — if your dog has a confirmed poultry sensitivity, try our Roo Strips or Beef Strips.

How we make it

From fillet to finished pouch.

Every protein in the pantry has its own dehydration profile. Turkey mince needs longer drying time than sliced strips — the formed patties hold more moisture in their structure, so we run them low and slow to dry through cleanly without scorching the surface.

  1. STEP 01

    Source

Australian-sourced turkey mince, human-grade. Whole muscle meat run through a coarse mince — no fillers, no binders, no preservatives.

  2. STEP 02

    Hand-formed

Each patty is shaped by hand to a consistent thickness — thin enough to dry through evenly, thick enough to break cleanly into training-sized pieces.

  3. STEP 03

    Slow dehydrate

Dried at 70°C for 10–14 hours — turkey patties hold more moisture than sliced strips, so they need a longer dry to set the structure without overcooking the surface.

  4. STEP 04

    Pack fresh

Cooled, weighed and pouched in our Prahran kitchen within hours of dehydration. Sealed without preservatives — fresh batches, never warehoused.

A note on natural variation

Hand-cut, hand-formed, no two pieces alike. Every batch is shaped by hand in our Prahran kitchen, so size, shape and colour will vary slightly from pouch to pouch — and that’s exactly the point. It’s the proof of small-batch.

The source

Australian. Human-grade. Traceable.

Every patty that goes into a Turkey Patties pouch is Australian-sourced from human-grade suppliers — the same standard a butcher or restaurant would buy at, never the “pet-grade” off-cuts the mass market relies on.

That choice costs more, but it's non-negotiable. Pet-grade ingredients can include slaughterhouse trim, downed animals and meat unfit for human consumption — all legal in Australia, all common in commercial dog treats. We don't go anywhere near it.
