Functional benefits

Why chicken,
done right.

Most chicken treats on the supermarket shelf are mince, glycerine and “chicken flavour.” Ours is a single fillet, sliced thin and dehydrated low. Same protein source, completely different proposition.

01 — Easy on digestion

Gentle for sensitive guts.

Chicken breast is one of the most digestible animal proteins available — a lean, low-fat muscle meat that's gentle on the stomach. A long-time go-to for fussy tummies, recovery diets, and dogs on lean rotations.

02 — Protein density

Lean fuel, no filler.

Roughly 31g of complete protein per 100g of dehydrated breast — every essential amino acid your dog needs to maintain muscle, heal tissue and support a healthy coat. Because the moisture is removed (not the nutrients), what you feed is a concentrated dose of the good stuff.

03 — Training reward

Small, soft, high-value.

The thin-sliced strips break easily into pea-sized rewards, so you can mark behaviour quickly without overfeeding. Dogs respond strongly to chicken's flavour and aroma — high enough value to break through distractions, low enough in fat to give a hundred times in a session.

04 — B-vitamin rich

Energy and nervous-system support.

Chicken is naturally high in B6, B3 and B12 — vitamins critical for energy metabolism, brain function and red-blood-cell production. Dehydration retains them where high-heat extrusion (used in most kibble and “baked” treats) destroys them.

Inside the pouch

The nutritional breakdown.

One ingredient on the label means one ingredient in the bag — but that single ingredient is doing a lot of work. Here's what's actually in chicken breast fillet, and what each nutrient does for your dog.

Puppies in training

The thin-sliced strips break easily into tiny rewards — perfect for marking behaviour without filling little bellies. High value, low fat, high frequency.

Sensitive tummies

One of the most digestible animal proteins available. A safe daily option for dogs recovering from gastro upset or those whose systems just don't tolerate richer meats.

Weight watchers

Naturally lean — high in protein, low in fat. Treat as much as you want without blowing the daily calorie budget. A staple for dogs on weight-management routines.

A note on chicken sensitivity.

Chicken is one of the most common protein allergens in dogs because of how often it appears in commercial diets. If your dog reacts to chicken, our Roo Strips.

How we make it

From fillet to finished pouch.

Every protein in the pantry has its own dehydration profile. Chicken breast has tighter muscle fibres than red meat, which means a slightly hotter, slower dry to lock in flavour and remove moisture without cooking out the nutrients.

  1. STEP 01

    Source

Australian-sourced chicken breast fillet, human-grade. No mince, no by-products, no “chicken meal” — only whole muscle meat.

  2. STEP 02

    Hand-cut

Each fillet is sliced thin by hand into uniform strips for an even dry and a clean snap. Slicing thickness is what controls dehydration time.

  3. STEP 03

    Slow dehydrate

Dried at 70°C for 8–12 hours depending on thickness — low enough to preserve enzymes, B-vitamins and protein structure, hot enough to be food-safe.

  4. STEP 04

    Pack fresh

Cooled, weighed and pouched in our Prahran kitchen within hours of dehydration. Sealed without preservatives — fresh batches, never warehoused.

A note on natural variation

Hand-cut, hand-formed, no two pieces alike. Every batch is shaped by hand in our Prahran kitchen, so size, shape and colour will vary slightly from pouch to pouch — and that’s exactly the point. It’s the proof of small-batch.

The source

Australian. Human-grade. Traceable.

Every fillet that goes into a Chicken Delights pouch is Australian-sourced from human-grade suppliers — the same standard a butcher or restaurant would buy at, never the “pet-grade” off-cuts the mass market relies on.

That choice costs more, but it's non-negotiable. Pet-grade ingredients can include slaughterhouse trim, downed animals and meat unfit for human consumption — all legal in Australia, all common in commercial dog treats. We don't go anywhere near it.
